Drone Delivery RPIC Course
AINautics University | Columbia, SC
Master the future of logistics. The Drone Delivery RPIC Course equips you with the specialized skills and knowledge needed to command unmanned aircraft in commercial delivery operations—one of the fastest-growing sectors in aviation. Let’s be honest—drones aren’t just cool gadgets anymore. They’re changing how we move goods from point A to point B. And someone needs to fly them.
5 Days. Real Skills. Actual Flight Time.
This isn’t a drawn-out program that drags on for months. In just five days at our Columbia, South Carolina training facility, you’ll go from ground school to flying a fixed-wing delivery drone yourself. We’ve packed everything you need into one intensive week because we know your time matters.
Why This Course?
Big-name retailers, hospitals, and shipping companies are scrambling to find pilots who actually know what they’re doing when it comes to drone delivery. Not just someone who can pass a test, but someone who can handle a real delivery mission when things don’t go as planned. That’s what we’re here to teach you.
What Your Week Looks Like
Days 1-2: Ground School
You’ll dig into the stuff that matters for delivery work—route planning, payload management, weight and balance calculations, and navigating increasingly crowded airspace. We spend solid time on BVLOS operations because that’s where the industry is headed. You’ll also cover Part 107 compliance, waiver applications, safety protocols, and the paperwork that keeps you legal and employable.
Days 3-5: Hands-On Flight Training
Here’s where it gets good. You’ll head out to our flight site right here in Columbia and get stick time on an actual fixed-wing delivery drone. Not a simulator. Not a toy. The real thing.
Your instructors will walk you through:
- Pre-flight inspections and getting the aircraft mission-ready
- Launch and recovery techniques specific to fixed-wing platforms
- Manual control and monitoring automated flight paths
- Loading cargo, securing it properly, and executing payload drops
- Delivery mission simulations that mirror real-world scenarios
- Emergency procedures—because things happen and you need to know what to do
- Post-flight debriefs and proper logging
You’ll walk away with documented flight hours on professional equipment. That’s something employers actually care about.
Where Can This Take You?
Companies like Amazon, Zipline, Wing, and dozens of smaller operations are hiring. We’re talking jobs like delivery drone operator, flight ops lead, or mission coordinator. The pay is competitive and the field still has room to grow.
